Digital Traincase Haul, Saturday 15 Oct

Howdy! Whenever you are going through a lot in life or are under so much stress, how do you deal with the situation? For me, one of my extremely elating ways of relieving myself of all that negative vibe is by retail therapy; food, chocolates, coffee or (my current indulgence) make-up!! These can definitely shoot my morale from zero to sky high ^_^

Last Saturday, I spent quality time with my son as I promised to let him ride the choo choo train and bus, have dinner out, and a coffee date at Starbucks. Oh he got all of that, but he's not the only one who's happy! We also dropped by the shop of Digital Traincase at the Eton Cyberpod (building adjacent to Robinsons Galleria, facing EDSA) and got myself my own dose of happiness! Here's my first (but definitely not the last) haul from our visit to Digital Traincase :)
from left to right: HD Eye Shadow Base, Jupiter, Chic, Gem, Louisiana, & Stella

There were so many choices at their store! They have this make-up table, which I aptly call as a make-up altar, filled with so many NYX products I didn't even know where to start trying some haha! At that time, they were having a photoshoot with pretty models at the store. I kinda felt embarrassed going about the products while they were shooting but I was like, I don't care! Those NYX make-up stuff on that altar were just... love!! <3 Took me more than an hour there to make my choice which stuff to get. Tsk.. the many difficult choices you have to make in life.. LOL! Oh, best part there was I got to meet the store owner's uber cute doggie, Colette! Such a sweetheart ^_^

If you wanna check out the eye candies that Digital Traincase has to offer, visit their Facebook page or their Multiply site. Now if you want to personally give their testers a try, visit their physical store "Beauty and the Geeks", stalls 65 and 66 at the Eton Cyberpod E-Life Building 1, EDSA Corner Ortigas Avenue Quezon City. Let's see if you can manage to drop by and not spend a single peso on their awesome products... good luck! LOL!

Till my next post. Yeeehaaaw!! <):)

Mary Kay TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set

Howdy! Today I am doing a review of yet another set of Mary Kay products, the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set (for oily/combination skin).

These sample sachets are again courtesy of my very good friend Ivy. Yes, amn't I just soooo lucky to have such a nice and generous friend who gives me free stuff all the time even without me asking? :) Anyway, these sachets are both good for 4-5 uses.

First, I'll be doing my review on the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Step 1: Refine
picture borrowed from www.marykay.com.ph
This is a white cream-like product with very fine particles that provides a feel and effect similar to that of the diamond peel service from dermatologists, but right at the comfort of your own home! It helps exfoliate the skin, removing all the dirt and dead skin cells, leaving your face smooth to the touch. A 29ml bottle of this product costs 1530.00php, but don't worry as it is good for several months' use.

To use this product:
Cleanse your face first, then dot your face with a small amount of this product onto your nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead. Massage the product in circular motion all over your face for a good 1-2 minutes. Remember, do it GENTLY! When massaged vigorously, it may feel as if you are smoothing your face with sand paper.. Rinse off with water afterwards then pat your face dry. Follow with step 2.

Up next, TimeWise Microdermabrasion Step 2: Replenish
picture borrowed from www.marykay.com.ph
This translucent serum is applied right after Step 1: Refine to help nourish your freshly exfoliated skin. After the application of this product, my face felt soft, smooth, and elastic to the touch. This 75g tube is worth 1530.00php, also good for several months' use.

In comparison to the first set of Mary Kay products that I reviewed, TimeWise 3-in-1 Cleanser and Age Fighting Moisturizer, these products are virtually scent free. Remember, use this set at a maximum of 2 times a week so as not to cause irritation and scraping on your face due to excessive exfoliation.

If you wanna check out other Mary Kay products, click here. And if you wanna experience that diamond peel effect without having to go to your dermatologist, you can order the  Mary Kay TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set through my friend Ivy Diana M. Bo, an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Her contact numbers are 09175549634 and 09228719902.

Till my next post. Yeeehaaaw!! <):)

The day I lent my hair and face to sis Ivy :)

Howdy! This is yet another looooong overdue post.. Last September 24, I participated in a make-up workshop at Mary Kay as a bridal hair and make-up model for sis Ivy. The workshop was facilitated by sir Armando "Junard" Abinsay, a former make-up artist at ABS-CBN, at their Mary Kay office in Robinsons Victoria Tower, Timog QC. Here are the pictures of the said event. Witness my sudden transformation from Hagardo Versoza to vavavoooom under the talented hands of Ivy, and the wonderful products of Mary Kay.

the models complete with costumes lol!

with our respective make-up artists

I certainly had fun that day! Especially having spent it with two of the things I love; make-up, and the company of a very good friend :) Even though I was just modeling for that day, I also learned a couple tips on make-up and such. However, the most important lesson we got from Sir Junard was: (referring to the eye shadows) "wag mong kudkurin, hagudin mo lang!!" ("don't rake it, just swipe it!") LOL!! XD

EOTD: Sunset by the Beach

Howdy! Yesterday, a college friend Rem challenged me to use red-colored shadows for my next EOTD. But since my eyeshadow palettes didn't contain enough shades of red so that I can create a look that has a transition from light red to dark red, I just tried to come up with a look that has a red color in it. So without further ado, here's the look that I achieved just a couple hours ago... I call it, sunset by the beach <3

This look is just, love!! The beach is calling onto me already.. I badly miss hitting the beach.. :'( Anybody wanna accompany this cowgirl to the beach?

Till my next post. Yeeehaaaw!! <):)

EOTD: Tropical Paradise

Howdy! I just wanna share this look that I achieved the other day. As usual, I was just playing around but I think this one ended up in a lovely tropical-themed look. And yeah, I kinda liked it!

I just love colors! Mix them, blend them, then come up with a look that's pretty swell. :)

Another EOTD on the way... Yeeehaaaw!! <):)

NYX Cosmetics Supplier by Samsville Haul

Howdy! I'm just soooo stoked with my latest haul! Last weekend I participated in this "mine" game hosted by NYX Cosmetics Supplier by Samsville. Since these cosmetics are very lucrative, you really have to wait for like the whole evening (or in this case, the whole Saturday and Sunday evening) for the seller to post her on hand items one by one on her wall as the make-up aficionados try their luck on grabbing the items they want by commenting "mine" below the photos. First ones to comment get the items, depending on the number of that specific item available on hand. So basically, that game was definitely a test of patience, alertness, and your skill to continuously refresh your browser page to see if there is a new photo of the items posted on the wall, and speed in typing "mine" on the comment box.. LOL! Crazy eh?!

Why go through all that hassle? Because in that "mine" game, the cosmetics are being sold at a much lower price. Best thing to do in cases like this, write down all the items that you would like to get, patiently wait and be alert if the picture of your desired item is already posted on the wall.

So anyway, here are the items that I got from that "mine" game.

From left to right: Black Long Lash Mascara, Round Lipstick in Watermelon, Round Lipstick in Narcissus, Matte Lipstick in Audrey, and Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa.

I just picked up the items yesterday in the seller's family drug store in Pasig. Transaction was pretty fast actually! I can't wait to play with my new toys!!

The NYX Cosmetics being sold in that online store are usually for pre-order and may take more than a month to arrive but if you wanna get them fast, best way is to try your luck whenever she would have the "mine" game haha!! If you wanna check out the other items in that shop, click here.

Gosh, more and more products to be reviewed are adding up haha! Very well then.. Till my next post. Yeeehaaaw!! <):)

Tony Moly Haul, Saturday 01 Oct

Howdy! I've been meaning to write about this haul days ago but I just couldn't find the time because I've had my hands full these past few days. Anyway, this is my first ever haul from Tony Moly Megamall branch.

That bottle is the Aqua Peeling Mist, I thought it might be helpful as to smooth out and whiten my knees and elbows. Having played in so many rodeo games I do have my share of experiences wherein I held onto a cow's tail for dear life while being dragged on the ground, scraped my knees during practice games, and got dragged foot first (my foot got caught on the rope TWICE with the other end tied onto the neck of a raging cow!) as I clenched onto the dirt trying in vain to stop myself from being further dragged.. Hah! Those were my glory days... LOL!! Anyway, the other thing I bought is their yellow nail polish :)

They also included a freebie with my 500php+ worth of purchase! :)
Intense Repair Live Snail Cream (sorry for the blurry pic lol!)

And finally I also got my Tony Moly International Membership Card!

They got some pretty neat stuff in that store so I'd probably be going back to grab me some more hauls next time.

Till my next post. Yeeehaaaw!! <):)

Battle of the oil control films

Howdy! What kind of skin type do you have? Mine's combination to oily.. They say that it is the healthiest skin type. I'm the type who, after taking a bath and not putting anything on my face, starts to get oily after about 1.5-2 hours, and wakes up with an oily t-zone in the morning.

For people like me, oil control films are a big must-have especially when going out on gimmicks and you don't want to outshine the disco ball. A friend of mine once asked me, among the common brands of oil control films, which one is the best in terms of oil absorption? That question challenged me to start an experiment to find out which one really is the best.

I went to Watson's and grabbed all the oil control films available there. I tried using a different oil control film everyday for 5 straight days, at the same time of the day (when I wake up in the morning when my t-zone is the oiliest). Based on my simple experiment, this is how the products ranked in my opinion, 5 being lowest and 1 as the best:

#5. Clean & Clear Oil Control Film (Blue)
117.75php for a pack of 60 sheets. This can absorb the oil on your face, yes, but not totally.. The sheets are pretty thin and sometimes, I would need to use 2 sheets in order to completely suck out the oil on my face.

#4. Clean & Clear Oil Control Film (Pink)
124.75php for a pack of 50 sheets. Oil control absorption is just as same as the blue one but this one smells oh so nice!! It has a strong grapefruit scent, so powerful that when I kept this along with my other oil control films in just one container, all the other oil control sheets in the different packs started to smell like grapefruit too haha! But don't worry, the smell doesn't cause discomfort to the nose.

#3. Gatsby Oil Clear Sheet
119.75php for a pack of 70 sheets. This is just a little bit better compared to the Clean & Clear films in terms of oil absorption. The sheets are also thin, I love the color tho! Size is bigger compared to the Clean & Clear sheets. With this one, one sheet is good enough to clean my face of the oil.

#2. Lab Works Oil Control Film
99.75php for a pack of 60 sheets. Compared to the three products mentioned above, the Lab Works sheets are thicker and even though they're just the same size as the Clean & Clear sheets, 1 sheet is good enough to remove all the oil on my face.

#1. Kleenex Facial Oil Blotter
front side of the sheet; the side you wipe your face with

back side.. so cuuuuuuuute!!
104.75php for a pack of 50 sheets, but there was a time it went on sale in Watson's for only 91.00php, not sure if they still sell it for that price. According to the plastic covering of the pack, it "absorbs 2x more oil than other film blotters", and indeed it stays true to its word! This one is different from the other oil films as this has a thin cottony layer at the back (with the leafy prints as seen on the picture above) that serves as an additional oil absorbing layer. This product I can say is the best among all 5 because with just 1 sheet, it can really suck out all the oil on my face leaving my face feeling fresh and smooth to the touch (but it doesn't dry out the face don't worry). As of now, this is my top oil blotting film. :)

Do you  know any other brands of oil blotters that you think work well? Share your thoughts by sending me a holler. :) Till my next post. Yeeehaaaw!! <):)

FOTD: Camouflage

Howdy! Have you ever tried doing crazy stuff when you're bored? ...of course most people have, duh me! I've probably told some of my friends (and some high school friends know this) that I am a frustrated PMAer. I badly wanted to enter the Academy after finishing from Assumption but my dad didn't let me... I would have been a member of PMA Class 2006 if ever...

Anyway, tonight I found the camo paint kit that my brod JD gave me years ago back in college. It's 4am, I can't sleep, I'm bored like hell, and I got a camo paint kit in my hand. Here's what happened next... My brother can't stop laughing while taking my pictures! ROFL!! XD
"don't dare mess with me, ammuh hunt ya down, b*atches..." bahaha!! XD

No pun intended to my military friends, aight? I'm bored, and I like experimenting with make-up and stuff. Just so happened I have real men's make-up with me as well hehehe..

Gosh I still don't feel sleepy... GAAAAAAAAH!! X'| Starting to count sheep in a few...

Till my next post. Yeeehaaaw!! <):)

EOTD: Blue

Howdy! What's your favorite color? My ultimate favorite color of all time is blue. Now what if we translate this beautiful color into make-up? A lot of women are actually hesitant to sport a look using blue-toned eye shadows. Light blue, perhaps.. but the darker shades of blue? Only the bold can can work it... haha! Probably because women associate darker tones of blue eye shadows with ..errr.. night club prostitutes.. Although when properly blended and mixed with matching tones, one can realize that blue can be stunningly gorgeous. Here's the look that I achieved yesterday night using different shades of shimmery blue eye shadows.

Now what's your opinion, do you think this looks trashy? Narcissistic again yeah, but I personally love the outcome of this look! Yes I am pretty biased with blue but when doing my own make-up, I do know how to recognize whether my make-up techniques have been poorly executed or if I can work it. This one is just.. love!! <3

I wonder what color should I work on next hmmm... Till my next post. Yeeehaaaw!! <):)
